Aaron Ross intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown in the third quarter, and the stadium erupted.  High-fives were going all around when I turned to my friend, Tom, and said “In all the years of coming to these games, I think this is the most fun I’ve seen people having in the stands.” The Giants went on to roll over the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 30-10.

The Giants played a Philadelphia team that was looking to make a statement about their ability to contend for the NFC East title.  But the Eagles didn’t quite have enough, stumbling in final minutes, leading to the Giants winning the game by a score of 36-31.  The Giants are now 8-1, the best record in the NFC.

The Giants are 7-1, atop the NFC East and the NFC overall.  Here are my recognitions/observations of the team:

At the beginning of the season, “experts” were predicting a Super Bowl win by the Dallas Cowboys and offered dozens of reasons why the Giants would struggle to “keep up with the Jones’.” At the midway point of the season, these so-called experts could not have been more wrong, as the Cowboys continue to implode and the Giants took control of the NFC East, crushing the Cowboys by a score of 35-14.

First of all, apologies for the late report.  I was traveling over the weekend and just got back to my computer.  I was anxious to write this because man, what a game!  It was intense and physical, a great battle, just the way football ought to be played.  And in the end, the Giants were victorious over the Steelers, winning on a late 4th quarter touchdown by the score of 21-14.

The Giants won the game, beating the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 29-17, and that was good enough. However, I can’t help but feel that they should have won by a lot more.

The game started in almost an ideal fashion.  The Giants were holding the Browns to field goals, and Brandon Jacobs was wearing down the Browns’ defense.  But the Browns stepped up their intensity, and the Giants seemed to fall asleep to let Cleveland win the game running away, 35-14.

Total domination.  It’s been a long time since the Giants have shown this kind of dominance, but the Giants were in a zone today, destroying the Seattle Seahawks by the score of 44-6.  The Giants did just about everything right, averaging nearly 10 yards per play and scoring on all but one of 9 possessions on offense by the time the 2nd stringers took over, and shutting the Seahawks out on 3rd down coversion (0 for 9) as well as keeping them out of the end zone.

I attended today’s game, sitting in my usual seat provided by The Film Giant.  As fans were filing in, one of the discussions that came up made the point that the Bengals’ Carson Palmer has been a pretty good quarterback in this league, and the likelihood that he would have 3 consecutive poor games was unlikely.  And as much as I’d like to think that the Bengals are just a bad football team, I think the reality is that they are a talented team that has just been playing poorly (compared to, say, the St. Louis Rams, who have one or two talented players but are really just a bad team).  With that as the premise, today’s close game wasn’t wholly unexpected.  The Giants pulled out a squeaker, winning in overtime by the score of 26-23.
