First of all, apologies for the late report. I was traveling over the weekend and just got back to my computer. I was anxious to write this because man, what a game! It was intense and physical, a great battle, just the way football ought to be played. And in the end, the Giants were victorious over the Steelers, winning on a late 4th quarter touchdown by the score of 21-14.

Had a good week last week, going 10-4 and bringing my season record to 54-48. We’re in the meat of the season, so I expect to really get things right now. Here are this week’s predictions:

Aaron Ross has had a couple of rough weeks, getting beaten repeatedly against Cleveland by Braylon Edwards, then giving up a deep touchdown pass to rookie Josh Morgan of the 49ers. I’ve seen a handful of posts on various football forums talking about Ross, saying he’s been “exposed” and is no good. At this point, I’ll respectfully disagree, noting that he’s still a very young player only in his second year in the NFL, with only 15 starts in his career (and not all of those starts had him at CB the entire game). I think his physical skills are excellent, with good speed and tackling technique, and he has proven toughness (as seen by his playing with a separated shoulder in the playoffs last year). And I think he is one of those guys who is probably very easy to coach and is hard working (to have a fiancee like Olympian Sanya Richardson, I can’t imagine that he’s not a disciplined guy.

The Giants won the game, beating the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 29-17, and that was good enough. However, I can’t help but feel that they should have won by a lot more.

I’m 44-44 on the season. Pretty lame, I know. At least I was a bunch of games over .500 prior to last week before all the big upsets. Here are my predictions for this week’s games:

The game started in almost an ideal fashion. The Giants were holding the Browns to field goals, and Brandon Jacobs was wearing down the Browns’ defense. But the Browns stepped up their intensity, and the Giants seemed to fall asleep to let Cleveland win the game running away, 35-14.

Plaxico Burress returned to the Giants after being suspended from the team and answered questions from the media about what happened last week. The result? The media is bashing him harshly for his “I don’t care” attitude. But is it really a problem for the Giants? I don’t think so.

Total domination. It’s been a long time since the Giants have shown this kind of dominance, but the Giants were in a zone today, destroying the Seattle Seahawks by the score of 44-6. The Giants did just about everything right, averaging nearly 10 yards per play and scoring on all but one of 9 possessions on offense by the time the 2nd stringers took over, and shutting the Seahawks out on 3rd down coversion (0 for 9) as well as keeping them out of the end zone.
